Those farmers that complain about market women buying their fish at ridiculouse prices, why can't they smoke and sell as smoked fish. It will last longer for them.

I think that will be a solution if they look for market for smoked fish. It's worth the extra effort.

I've come across something called melange farming. This is where you raise catfish for 2.5-3 months (300-500g body wt) and sell them either fresh or smoked. To maximize profit you must hatch your own fries and it is better than raising catfish till maturity. This is because at a younger age, the fish grow fast while eating less feed (low feed converstion ratio). After 3 months, feed consumption tend to increase.

In addition to effort made in raising farm animals, farmers should also make additional effort and search for market.

Yes you're right, but hatching is not that difficult.

I'm also thinking how profitable it will be to buy from farmers, smoke and sell.

I don't think u'll need nafdac no. Do all those market women that sell it have nafdac no?

How about oven drying using solar energy? I've come across some that uses sun to heat up air and the hot air flows through the material to be dried.
