Will it work? Considering the fact that cigarette contains nicotine, a pesticide.

Nicotine alone may not be very effective. A combination of ash and pepper has been found to be effective. Soap or detergent solution can also be used. I came across this site with nice info: https://blog.invasive-species.org/2018/0...-armyworm/.
