Is there market for tilapia fish in Nigeria, especially the south-east region? I’ve visited several markets but I’ve not seen anyone selling tilapia. Does it mean there is no demand for it? What if it is smoked and sold as smoked fish?

There should be. If not just smoke it and sell. I've once seen it in Lagos.

Yes, I've been considering that smoking.

And tilapia seems to be cheaper to raise, cheaper than catfish.

Yes they are. You can even feed them mainly duckweed and cereals.

tilapia farming is another cash cow d fish farmers are venturing into now, cheap to farm and there is also technology of turning all the fries in to male so as not to over crowd the pond

@Noblefarm, you can still find any good catfish farmer around your location. But as a competitor, I wonder if they will tell you everything.

Duckweed is a plant with small leaves and almost no root. It floats on water and under the right condition of temperature, nutrient, no wind etc, they grow very very fast. A 20kg duckweed can become 40kg in 2 days time. That's how fast they can grow. They are also rich in protein, especially when dried.

I can. But I will prefer an existing market than trying to create one. That is because if I raise like 1000 fish or more, I may not have the time and resources to sell such a number directly.

Ah, true. I suppose that makes more sense!
