#1
I intend going into snailery – the free range method of housing. But soldier ants will be my greatest enemy. How do I deal with them without killing the snails?

But the pesticides will also kill the snail or make them sick.

Don't even think of pesticides.

I think you can use ash and garlic extract. Soak crushed garlic in water overnight and spray the solution in the pen. You can also spray wood ash.

Dig a trench around the pen and fill it with water and discarded engine oil.

Another method is to make sure that the wall that surround the snails is at least 30cm deep and about 85cm high. For more details on constructing snail pen, download this free ebooks: http://www.farmersjoint.com/Thread-Regis...books--106. This is for registered members only.

Baking soda and sugar in a ratio of 5:1 will kill any ant that eat it.

These are the most feasible methods I think. Surround them with the wall as Farmtech said. Then outside the wall, dig a trench and fill it with water and engine oil. With that, let me see the ant that will attack. In fact, you can use something else like plastic sheets and extend the wall deeper than 30cm.

Thanks so much, I'm going to try it again, I read it somewhere before and it makes sense to me, but when I tried it they did not eat.
