Vapes and Shisha Deadly Health Implication
#1
A 24-year-old was rushed into the hospital last week, gasping for air. He's not a sm0ker, no asthma history. But…

He vapes heavily.
His friends thought he was having a panic attack. He wasn't. His lungs were severely damaged.

The hospital told us that he thought vaping was just "flavoured water vapour" and a safe alternative to cigårettes.

This is a dangerous lie that has become popular in lounges from Lekki to Abuja. Let me be clear: It is NOT water vapour. It's an aerosol filled with tiny, harmful particles.

That clean water in a shisha pipe is not your friend either.
It doesn't filter out the càncer causing substances; it just cools the smoke, which is even more dangerous because it allows you to inhale deeper and hold more po!son in your lungs for longer. The World Health Organization confirms that one shisha session can equal smoking 100 or more cigarettes in terms of smoke inhalation volume.

That young man is now f!ghting for his life. We only pray that the damåge is not so bad that the only option left is a lung trànsplant.

Your lungs are designed for one thing: breathing AIR. They are not an exhaust pipe. The only things you should be inhaling are air and prescribed medications. Full stop.

Dear youths, that posh shisha and vape lifestyle is a fast track to the emergency room. It is the same wahala as smok!ng, just in a different, more expensive package.

Don't let trends and peer pressure, deceive you into destroying the only set of lungs you have. Please.

People think shisha and vapes are “classy,” but it’s literally the same smoke that destroys lungs. The WHO even said one shisha session = 100 cigarettes! Imagine inhaling that much in one sitting

This is a serious wake-up call. Many of our youths have replaced smoking with vaping and shisha, thinking they’re being smart or modern. The truth is, the body doesn’t care whether it’s cigar smoke or vape smoke — poison is poison. Those tiny particles enter the lungs, damage the tissues, and slowly reduce your lung capacity. Before you know it, you can’t even climb stairs without gasping for air. People need to stop believing lies from marketers and influencers who just want to sell products. Health no get duplicate.

Truly sad. Peer pressure and social media trends are leading many astray. The same people promoting shisha nights won’t be there when you’re on oxygen. Protect your lungs while you still can.

Vape or shisha — same poison, just better packaging.

That “flavoured water vapour” lie is one of the biggest scams of this generation. The chemicals used to create those flavours are not meant for the human lungs. It’s the same nicotine, glycerin, and metal particles that eventually scar your lungs. And when the damage starts, it doesn’t reverse easily. Some of these vapes are even made in shady factories with zero health regulation. My people, abeg, let’s not let packaging deceive us.

The saddest part of this story is that the boy probably started vaping out of curiosity or peer pressure. That’s how it begins — just one puff here, one puff there. Before you know it, the body is dependent. The lungs become inflamed, the cells get scarred, and breathing becomes difficult. Then panic attacks start, and people mistake it for anxiety. These products were designed for addiction, not enjoyment. Parents need to start talking to their kids early about these things.

Let’s not forget the psychological side too. Many people turn to vaping or shisha because they think it helps with stress or depression. It might feel relaxing for a few minutes, but the long-term effects are devastating. There are healthier ways to manage stress — exercise, prayer, music, deep breathing. Destroying your lungs because of temporary comfort is not worth it. Health is real wealth.

Even the so-called “herbal” or “nicotine-free” vapes are not safe. Most of them still produce formaldehyde and other toxic by-products when heated. That’s why your throat burns or itches sometimes after vaping.
