How long does it take before they start laying eggs?
4-5 months, during which you'll only be spending money. It will seem like forever.
Mine started @ 5 months. The earlier they start the smaller the eggs will be.
Some can be as long as 6 months if care is not taken.

Under optimum conditions of good nutrition, ideal day length, adequate housing, and other good management practices, most layers should begin egg production at about 20-22 weeks of age.
