Did you know that Lyme disease — a serious bacterial infection spread by ticks — nearly ended a woman’s life, until something miraculous happened?

Her name is Ellie Lobel. At 27, she was bitten by an insect carrying Borrelia burgdorferi, the bacteria that causes Lyme disease. Over time, the infection damaged her nervous system. For 15 years, from age 27 to 42, Ellie lived bedridden — in pain, exhausted, and waiting to die.

After endless treatments failed, she gave up. Her doctor told her she had just 90 days left. But in what seemed like her final days, something unexpected happened. While sitting outside, Ellie was swarmed by Africanized bees and stung dozens of times.

Instead of killing her, the stings revived her. She woke up pain-free. Weeks later, she was walking, thinking clearly, and living again. Doctors were baffled, but the answer lay in the bee venom. Somehow, it either destroyed the Lyme bacteria or reawakened her immune system.

Ellie calls it a miracle — proof that God can bring healing from the most unlikely places. The Bible says, “God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise” (1 Corinthians 1:27). Who would ever expect that a swarm of bees could do what years of medicine could not?

Today, Ellie speaks about apitherapy (bee venom therapy). Her case is rare, and bee stings can be dangerous without medical help, but her story is a reminder that God can use even the sting of a bee to bring life and hope.
Be careful with that line of thought though. Bee venom can be deadly for people allergic. It’s not something to experiment with lightly.
I’ve heard apitherapy helps arthritis too. Maybe bees are little doctors God sent us.
Lyme disease comes from tick bites, right? Crazy how something as tiny as a tick nearly ended her life, then something as small as a bee gave it back.
Bee venom has been studied for its antibacterial and immune effects. This is God working through nature.

Reminds me of when Paul wrote that God uses the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. Who would ever imagine bees as healers?
Doctors had 15 years and couldn’t help her. One swarm of bees, and she’s healed. That’s not just coincidence.

I think it’s both - nature designed by God has healing we don’t fully understand yet. Bee venom might be one of those hidden tools.
I’d like to see more research. If bee venom really helps Lyme patients, it could be life-changing for thousands. Imagine how many “alternative” therapies have been ignored because they don’t make big pharma money.
This story is inspiring, but I’d never risk letting bees sting me on purpose. Allergic reactions can kill in minutes.
